Hockey Turf Systems

Hockey surfaces built around the playing programme.

Project-configured hockey turf for competition venues, clubs, schools and shared-use facilities. Surface selection is based on the required playing programme, water strategy, use intensity, base, drainage, climate, maintenance and evidence pathway.

Four project pathways

Choose the hockey programme before the surface.

The public pathways organise the project by use. The exact turf construction and performance evidence are confirmed only after the project requirements are known.

01

Hockey Competition

Higher-performance pathway for competition-oriented hockey venues where exact system and installed-field evidence may be required.

02

Hockey Club

Commercial club and academy pathway balancing hockey response, utilisation, maintenance and lifecycle value.

Project configured
03

Hockey School & Community

Durable pathway for education, community and training facilities with practical operating requirements.

Project configured
04

Hockey Multi-Use

Shared-use pathway where hockey must be coordinated with secondary sports, line marking and facility operations.

Selection logic

What determines the right hockey turf?

Hockey surface selection needs to account for ball response, water strategy, use pattern and the complete field construction. A product label alone is not enough.

Playing programme

Competition, club, academy, school, community or shared-use.

Water strategy

Dry, reduced-water or irrigated operation must be defined before final selection.

Usage intensity

Training load, match use and shared-use hours.

Base & drainage

New construction, conversion or replacement condition.

Climate

Rainfall, heat, UV, humidity, coastal exposure and seasonal conditions.

Maintenance model

Available brushing, cleaning, irrigation and specialist maintenance capability.

Evidence requirement

Any FIH, consultant, tender or installed-field testing requirement for the exact project.

Hockey turf system layers including turf surface, support layers, drainage and prepared base

Complete surface system

The hockey surface is one part of the field.

The final hockey system may include the turf surface, elastic or shock layer where required, drainage, prepared base, edge restraint, line marking and irrigation interfaces where applicable. These elements are reviewed as one field system.

Supply model

LUTHVAR is supplied on a wholesale and project basis. Civil works, drainage construction, installation, testing and local compliance remain project-specific and are confirmed in the project scope.

Project brief

What we need to review a hockey field.

A strong field brief lets the playing surface, water strategy, civil interfaces and evidence pathway be reviewed together.

Evidence control

FIH requirements are project and system specific.

Where FIH-level performance or field certification is required, the proposed turf system and the finished installed field must be reviewed against the current applicable requirements. A product certificate or a product-family name does not automatically certify a completed project field.

Hockey project brief

Send the project conditions before locking the turf.

We can then identify the appropriate LUTHVAR hockey pathway and confirm the exact technical configuration at quotation stage.
